8 therapists arrested in New York for billing fraud

Eight therapists, two of whom were also public school teachers, were arrested Thursday on federal charges of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars by billing for services for developmentally disabled children that never happened.

In some instances the therapists forged the names of the children’s guardians or parents on documentation, federal prosecutors said.

California neurosurgeon charged with medical billing fraud

Neurosurgeon, Laura Anderson, MD, was charged with medical billing fraud after submitting more than $500,000 in fraudulent insurance claims to the California Compensation Insurance Fund between 2013 and 2018. A Fox report states that she changed the billing codes for X-Ray and tele consults to codes that paid out a higher reimbursement. She has been arrested and out on bail.
