Medtronic Transformative Solutions Layoffs at the Pease International Tradeport

Medtronic Transformative Solutions at the Pease International Tradeport confirmed they will be closing their Portsmouth facility “most likely within the next 12 months.”

Several employees reported to the Portsmouth Herald that the company recently told its 150 employees at Pease that they would be eliminating its Portsmouth jobs.

Brett Cromwell, a spokesperson for the company, said Transformative Solutions “recently announced that changes are being made to help focus the business and strengthen its financial position.”

“The business is being restructured and will report into Medtronic’s Enabling Technologies business in Louisville, Colorado, beginning April 27,” he said in the statement. “As a result of the transition, the Portsmouth facility will eventually be closed, most likely within the next 12 months.”

“At this time, it’s too early to know exactly how many positions will be impacted, as the two businesses are working through a transition plan. Part of that plan will include moving many of the roles in Portsmouth to Louisville,” he said. “Portsmouth employees will have the opportunity to apply for those positions, as well as any other open positions at Medtronic.”

I don’t get the “neutron” part of it?

"General Electric's chairman, John F. Welch Jr., who earned the nickname Neutron Jack on his reputation for eliminating people while leaving buildings standing"

"In the 1980's, Mr. Welch exemplified the relentless executive willing to mow down any employees standing between him and a brighter bottom line. Through layoffs, plant closings and the sale of businesses, he eliminated 100,000 jobs"
