Medtronic Hiring Freeze

Word is there is a hiring freeze at Medtronic but I do not know if it is isolated to a couple divisions or if it is throughout the company. I was told Memphis is one where there is a freeze but no confirmation.

Any update on the hiring feeze - travel bans getting lifted now that the FY is over?

I was told Monday there was a hiring freeze for 2 weeks, not sure if it just Northern California or other areas, as well.

Hiring freezes and furloughs are affecting most of the company right now.

There's nothing like trying to run a business with a 100% travel ban.

Is this travel ban only on the Cardiac side of things because we aren't having the same travel restrictions where I'm at?

  • Rumors of RIF coming in Q4

Good info and thanks for sharing. The big news recently is the furlough for contractors. Money is tightening around the company for sure.

Barclay's ripped Medtronic about the pipeline and other things resulting in the stock going down over 6.5% yesterday. It's already down 9% on the year. If this downturn in the stock continues all of us need to be worried. A hiring freeze will be the least of our worries.

Hiring freeze in the southeast.

The talk of a hiring freeze is kind of funny. I don't think any current field reps care if there is a so-called "hiring freeze" when we consistently see Medtronic trying to reduce the field through voluntary attrition. How crazy is that. Hiring managers have a hard time filling open positions and at the same time reps are being forced out because their goals are too high. What a world we live in!

The biggest complainers usually get more breaks than those who don't. It also doesn't hurt to be tight with your manager. RM's get a quota and can then disperse it accordingly.

The best is when you are trying to hire for a sales opening and you are told there is a hiring freeze. Yessir, happened to me today. Thanks for the warning.
