Layoffs at Stryker

I am hearing 2018 layoffs in Kalamazoo are basically a done deal. Probably sometime in the first quarter.

I do not have information about sales layoffs but will pass on anything else I hear.

There is a global IT reorganization. Stryker is outsourcing all IT positions to TCS out of India. Not very American to maintain corporate headquarters in the U.S. and staff with consultants out of India, Certainly this will not "Make America Great!

For those who were listening from the first day Bijoy walked in, this was the plan which came from Lobo. The hundreds of talented IT people who, for the last 20 years helped build Stryker to what it is today, are being tossed to the curb, TCS is the 3rd Outsourcing company in 3 years. Outsourcing doesn't work. There is no ownership, accountability, or innovation. Also, there is a severe lack of security. How much data is begin taken by people on the other side of the world who could give a rats *** about US Privacy laws?

Laying off "only 50" people per round is part of the master plan. Usually when layoffs are of a smaller number, the press doesn't find out about it. Not this time. Keep your ears open for more smaller layoffs and please post them. Those 50 were just the start based on the past at Stryker.

Also, part of the master plan is to off-shore to "managed services" as many shared services jobs as possible. IT was started in 2015 and is 80% done, next is accounting, These are mostly Kalamazoo and New Jersey jobs that are being lost. This saves them the cost of benefits including the 401K match, and the discretionary 7% 401K contribution.

The portage mayor should revoke that state grant until Lobo guarantees there will be no more layoffs. Otherwise, you will continue seeing small layoffs here and there that end up amounting to a very sizeable amount of people being let go.

There is a rumor going around of another reorganization and outsourcing in Stryker IT going on in Q3-Q4 in Kalamazoo. People are going to have to re-apply for their jobs.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. I have some friends at Abbott and they use Wipro for their IT outsourcing. Many device and pharma companies have been switching to this model.

Don't be fooled by all the Stryker hype. Upper management is two faced and back stabbing. Employees are just a number. The brag about, benefits, all of their ratings, and how decentralized they are but in reality they are closing satellite offices and the benefits are the same as any company in the United States. Employees get fired and HR makes jokes about it. Fortune 500 and number 42 to work for in the United States.
